wax polishes
liquid floor wax
Mylands Liquid floor wax cleans, shines and maintains floors and other finished wooden surfaces.
- Mylands Liquid Floor Wax should be applied to a previously sealed floor
- Shake Liquid Floor Wax well before use to ensure it is fully homogenous
- At low temperatures the product may be difficult to pour, so it may be beneficial to warm it slightly by immersing the container in hot water for a short period
- Liquid Floor Wax may be applied by brush, roller or floor mop
- Apply an even coat across the whole floor and allow to dry for 1 – 2 hours depending on temperature
- When adequately dry, the wax will have a dull sheen and may then be buffed using a polishing machine, wax brush or coarse cloth.
- Any wax which comes into contact with other substrates, such aspainted skirting boards, should be removed quickly with White Spirit. Clean equipment with White Spirit 09 899 9262
- Allow Liquid Floor Wax to dry for between 1 and 2 hours (wax film will have a dull sheen) before buffing.
oil finishes
earth oil
Earth Oil is hardwax oil which is used extensively in the wood flooring trade.
- Firstly, ensure that all areas to be coated are well ventilated before, during and after application
- Ensure the surface is smooth, clean and free from any contamination or sanding dust
- Always test the oil on a small area prior to application on the whole area to be coated to ensure the colour is as desired
- Apply the Earth Oil with a brush and remove excess with a clean cloth within a few minutes of application
- If use of the Earth Oil Overlay is desired, allow the Earth Oil to dry for 24 hours before application of the Overlay (one coat only)
- Clean brushes with White Spirit, 09 899 9262 ** Unless using the Silver Grey – in which case use water.
- Dry Time: Allow 4 – 6 hours at 20°C between coats
danish oil
Danish Oil is a specially formulated blend of natural and synthetic oils for use on wood products.
- Apply a liberal coat of oil to the surface and allow to penetrate the timber for a few minutes before wiping off the surplus with a clean cloth
- Allow to dry and repeat the process until the desired build/appearance is achieved – a minimum of three coats is normally required on bare timber
- To achieve a smooth finish, the final coat may be applied using fine grade wire wool or Scotchbrite pad in the direction of the grain and wiping off the surplus with a clean cloth
- Wash brushes immediately after use – before the oil dries. Use White Spirit, 09 899 9262
- Dry Time: Allow between 4 – 6 hours at 20°C between coats
Teak Oil
A nourishing oil finish for interior and exterior timber with a satin sheen.
- Teak Oil may be used on new or aged timber
- Always test Teak Oil on an off-cut of timber or an inconspicuous area of furniture to check colour and finish is as desired before oiling the whole article
- If the timber has been previously coated, remove the old coating with either Mylands Special De-waxing solution (for wax finishes) or paint and varnish remover (for lacquer finishes)
- Clean, dry and sand the timber – ensuring all dust is removed
- Teak Oil may be applied using a clean, white, lint-free cotton cloth or brush
- Work the oil well into the wood and leave for up to 15 minutes before wiping off surplus with a clean lint-free cloth. Failure to wipe off surplus will prevent penetration of subsequent coats and leave a sticky surface – if surface does become sticky, remove stickiness with White Spirit, 09 899 9262, and allow to dry before proceeding
- Leave for a 24 hours and repeat the process for the remaining coats
- The minimum number of coats recommended is three, but more may be required depending on the condition and absorbency of the substrate. A light rub over with 0000 grade wire wool or fine abrasive paper between coats will improve smoothness and feel of the finish
- Use abrasive paper on exterior timber.
- Wash brushes immediately after use – before the oil dries. Use White Spirit, 09 899 9262
- Allow 24 hours at 20°C between coats

- Ensure the surface is smooth, clean and free from any contamination or sanding dust
