Mylands is delighted to have collaborated with de Gournay, the internationally acclaimed purveyor of exquisite hand-painted wallpapers and fabrics for the grand reopening of its New York City showroom. Situated in the heart of New York City’s storied design district, the newly reimagined showroom exemplifies de Gournay’s dedication to exceptional artistry and craftsmanship. Mylands worked closely with de Gournay's design team, creating a delightful colour palette to complement the very finest hand-painted wallpapers and hand-embroidered fabrics.
Bringing together two family owned and run businesses with a passion for excellence and craftmanship, the showroom offers to visitors an immersive experience within eleven distinct rooms, each interwoven with its own themes and stories.
Mylands colours run through the entire showroom and features across ceilings, accents, cornices and woodwork, complimenting the intricately, hand-painted wallpapers.
The showroom’s entryway, enveloped in the hand-painted ‘Central Park’ scenic wallpaper, celebrates one of the city’s most beloved landmarks. It is crowned with a ‘Celestial Atlas’, an enchanting homage to Grand Central Station’s distinctive vaulted ceiling that is entirely rendered in intricate hand-embroidery and hand-beading.

An extraordinary rendition of ‘St Laurent’ hangs within the porcelain lounge of the showroom. One of de Gournay’s most visually dense Chinoiserie designs, ‘St. Laurent’ is distinct for its finely worked renderings of elaborate peacocks and doves amidst flowering bushes, such as peony, prunus, camelia, and chrysanthemum. Inspired by antique panels belonging to Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, the brand’s interpretation maintains the full drama and grand scale of the original design. Ceiling cornice, joinery, skirting and portal features the iconic Mylands Rothschild Street™ No.296, a deep rich red with undertones of warm oranges.

For the main sitting room, wallpapered in de Gournay’s iconic ‘Erdem’ hand-painted in a new colourway, Mylands worked closely with de Gournay's design team, creating a bespoke green, echoing to the leafy tendrils of wisteria, jasmine and clematis. Peach Flesh Pink™ No.268 complement the design as an accent colour, bringing a soft pink hue
The room also features Mylands Lots Road™ No.24, one of our iconic warm neutral with a hint of yellow ochre.
