Long lasting paint, made responsibly: Mylands commitment to Sustainability
At Mylands, we believe the most beautiful finishes come from a thoughtful, sustainable process. As Britain’s oldest family-owned paint manufacturer, with over 140 years of heritage, sustainability is not a trend for us: it’s a commitment deeply woven into every layer of what we do.
We make all our paint in-house at our South London factory, giving us complete control over quality, sourcing, and sustainability from raw materials to finished product. This unique model allows us to trace every ingredient, reduce waste, and deliver on the environmental promises we make.
Our journey toward sustainability is ongoing, but our commitment is absolute. From reducing microplastics and harmful chemicals, to pioneering plant-based paint formulations and repurposing materials through upcycled paint collections, every decision we make is guided by our respect for the environment and our passion for craftsmanship.

Pioneering Plant Based Paints
We were among the first in the industry to invest in plant-based, multi-surface paints, launched in the early 2010s. These innovative formulations use natural fillers and high bio-carbon content, offering a refined alternative to traditional, petroleum-based acrylics. Scrubbable, durable, and low in VOCs, these paints prove that eco-friendly can still mean exceptional performance.
Our paints contain minimal VOCs (0.1–0.29%), making them safer for interiors and better for the environment.

Made to Order, Made in London: A Low-Waste, Low-Carbon Model
In an age of mass production and overconsumption, Mylands takes a refreshingly bespoke approach:
• Made to Order – Paints are custom-mixed for each client, reducing surplus inventory and unnecessary waste.
• Made in London – Local manufacturing supports the UK economy and drastically cuts down on transport-related emissions compared to international suppliers.
By limiting overproduction and shipping distances, Mylands significantly reduces its carbon footprint - without compromising on quality or service. Our London-based factory not only supports the local economy but also drastically cuts carbon emissions associated with transport and logistics.
Marble Matt Emulsion: Sustainability with Durability
Launched in 2010, Marble Matt Emulsion is one of Mylands’ signature finishes. Enriched with crushed Carrara marble, this premium emulsion provides extraordinary coverage - up to 15m² per litre, compared to the industry standard of 10–12m². Most surfaces require just two coats, reducing the volume of paint used per project.
With excellent durability, it also extends the life of painted surfaces, cutting down on the need for frequent repainting and therefore reducing long-term material consumption.
The Upcycled Collection: Celebrating 140 Years Sustainably
In honour of our 140th anniversary in 2024, we launched the Upcycled Collection - a curated range created from surplus, sample, and mis-tinted paints. Rather than discarding these materials, we reimagined them into a new palette of bespoke, limited-edition shades - minimising waste while delivering style and sophistication.

Environmentally friendly paint without compromising on performance
Designed to meet the rigorous demands of both residential and commercial interiors, Mylands' paints offers exceptional benefits:
• Scrubbable and Washable – Ideal for high-traffic areas such as kitchens, hallways, and hospitality spaces.
• Sprayable – Compatible with professional spray systems, ensuring a flawless, uniform finish.
• Highly Durable – Engineered to resist scuffs, stains, and wear over time, reducing the need for frequent repaints and minimising waste.
Our paint is made using a high proportion of bio-based content derived from sustainable plant materials, making it one of the most environmentally advanced paints available in the UK.
Superior Quality Ingredients for a Lasting Finish
What sets Mylands apart as a paint manufacturer is the uncompromising approach to raw materials. With paints formulated using:
• Natural Earth Pigments - Sourced from the finest mineral deposits across Europe, providing exceptional depth and richness of colour.
• Highest Pigment Levels - Mylands uses more pigment per litre than typical paint brands, resulting in superior coverage, vibrant colours, and the need for fewer coats.
This level of quality not only delivers an exquisite finish but also ensures reduced material consumption over time.
