Mylands Achieves Planet Mark Certification:
A Milestone in Our Sustainability Journey

Walls in Cornhill™ No.128
We’re proud to announce that Mylands is now Planet Mark Certified, a major step forward in our commitment to sustainability and responsible manufacturing. This certification recognises the meaningful actions we’ve taken—and continue to take—to reduce our environmental impact while crafting the exceptional paints and polishes we’ve been known for since 1884
What is Planet Mark?
Planet Mark is a globally recognised sustainability certification, awarded to businesses actively reducing their carbon footprint. As part of the Planet Mark Net Zero Certification Programme, we are now measuring our carbon emissions across operations and identifying further ways to cut emissions and work towards net zero. This achievement is more than a badge—it’s a commitment to transparency, accountability, and continual improvement in how we operate. As Britain’s oldest family-owned paint manufacturer, we see it as our responsibility to help set a new standard for sustainability in our industry.
Building on a Longstanding Sustainable Legacy
While Planet Mark represents an exciting new chapter, sustainability has long been part of our story. Mylands has been crafting high-quality paints and polishes for the past 140 years, and the company’s focus on sustainable materials and production processes is evident in its drive towards a circular economy, utilising efficient resources and natural alternatives where possible.
Plant-Based Innovation: We were early pioneers in plant-based, multi-surface paints, developed in the 2010s with natural fillers and high bio-carbon content—providing a true alternative to traditional acrylics.
Olive Stone Emulsion: Launched in 2023, this innovative paint uses crushed olive stones—a by-product of the olive oil industry—to create a beautiful, dead matt finish with less waste.
The Upcycled Collection: As part of our 140th anniversary in 2024, we introduced a curated range made from surplus and sample paints, reimagined into new shades to eliminate unnecessary waste.
Marble Matt Emulsion:
Mylands’ signature Marble Matt Emulsion was launched in 2010 and contains crushed Carrara Marble offering exceptional coverage (15l /m2 as opposed to the standard 10 or 12l/m2), requiring only two coats while most paints require three coats. Not only does this reduce the amount of paint required for projects as the paint offers exceptional coverage, it has also high durability, reducing the need for frequent repainting—and therefore reducing overall material use.

Dominic Myland - CEO of Mylands
Sustainable Manufacturing, End to End
At Mylands, sustainability is not an afterthought—it is embedded in every stage of our craft.
As a manufacturer with full control over our supply chain, we oversee every detail, from the sourcing of raw materials to the tinting of paints and the delivery of finished products. This autonomy allows us to uphold the highest standards of quality and environmental responsibility, without compromise.
All of our paints are formulated, blended, and tinted to order at our factory in the heart of London, ensuring precision, freshness, and minimal waste. By producing locally and distributing efficiently—particularly for our London-based clientele—we reduce transport emissions and environmental impact.
Our entire range is water-based and ultra-low in VOCs (0.1–0.29%), offering safer, healthier solutions for homes and professionals alike. From our crushed Carrara marble finishes to plant-based and upcycled innovations, every Mylands product is designed to endure beautifully while treading lightly on the planet. In an industry often driven by volume, we choose intention, integrity, and intelligent design—crafting paints that reflect our heritage while safeguarding our future.
