THE UPCYCLED PAINT COLLECTION

The Upcycled Collection is Mylands’ latest step in its ongoing commitment to minimise the impact of paint on the planet, composed of a blend of Mylands' highest quality decorative paint products.

It joins Mylands’ other industry-leading collections: the Plant-Based Multi-Surface paint with impressively high bio-carbon content and exceptional versatility offering Matt, Eggshell, Satin and Gloss finishes, its Plant-Based Floor Paint (Satin) and its innovative Olive Stone Emulsion with a dead matt finish, made with crushed olive stone, a by-product of the olive oil industry.

Mylands manufactures all its paints at its south London factory, ensuring that it has full control over its sustainability claims, from the choice of raw materials to minimising waste. All its paints are low-VOC and water based, made with rare natural earth pigments.

With sustainability and innovation being core values for Mylands, the 140 year old maker of paints and polishes has developed an innovative formula allowing it to give a new purpose to unwanted and leftover paints. A plant-based emulsion paint with a smooth finish, the Upcycled Collection is also available in Mylands’ signature Marble Matt finish, and a palette of 20 bestselling colours.

The base paint can originate from a number of sources: sample colours, returned orders, leftovers from making a colour batch, however it will only ever be made from original Mylands high quality paint. The unwanted paint is then grouped in small batches of similar colours and tinted, eventually becoming one of Mylands’ iconic shades. The paint follows the same high quality processes and colour matching techniques as Mylands’ other paint finishes.

The shade range evolves depending on the paint colours that are returned. The 20 colours chosen for the first launch have been selected across Mylands’ permanent collections: Colours of London, FTT, Archives, and Greys & Neutrals. The collection includes Wharf Sacking No. 127 and Soho Pink No. 266, two of the bestselling shades from Colours of London as well as FTT 006, the iconic shocking pink used on the set of the ‘Barbie’ movie. Part of the Archive Collection, Enamel Blue No. 78 is also featured in this launch. The Upcycled palette will continue to evolve depending on the colours that are available. Because of this unique stock evolution, some shades may not be restocked and so Mylands advises the customer to ensure enough is ordered to complete a full project.

Mylands has been a preferred supplier of the Film, TV and, art industry for decades and museums and art institutions also order large volumes of paint for various exhibitions. Mylands is delighted to offer a service that allows these partners to meet their own sustainable goals and avoid wastage.

Since the launch of the collection , Mylands has saved 1542 litres of paint from wastage.
